About Wetlands for Tomorrow

Simply put, Wetlands for Tomorrow is a fundraising initiative of Ducks Unlimited Canada. But it's so much more than that. It's an unprecedented opportunity to save Canada's wetlands for waterfowl, wildlife and people and to make an investment in the future of the health of our overall environment.

Wetlands for Tomorrow is an extraordinary response to the crisis of ongoing wetland loss, through threats posed by development, drainage and destruction.

There is much at stake, but we have developed a real plan to get results, gain back what we've lost and protect what's left.

About Ducks Unlimited Canada – A Wetland Conservation Organization

Wherever you find Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), you'll find wetland conservation hard at work.

We've had a singleness of purpose for over 70 years. Our mission is to conserve, restore, and manage wetlands and their associated habitats for North America's waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.

We are a national, private, non-profit organization and our conservation efforts take many forms:

  • We physically impact the ground. Our on-the-ground work is guided by the wetland and environmental research of our scientists.
  • We work to change policy in favour of wetland and habitat conservation.
  • We deliver wetland and environmental education programs to teach Canadians about wetlands and the need to conserve them.

As a non-profit organization, we rely on the support of Canadians from across the country. Our dedicated volunteers, members and staff work very hard to help achieve our conservation mission and vision.

About Our Work

Our conservation efforts are guided by cutting-edge science and environmental and wetland research. The Institute for Wetland and Waterfowl Research (IWWR) is the scientific research arm of DUC.

The IWWR works with our regional staff and university partners to conduct research that guides, adapts and evaluates our conservation programs. This marriage of science and conservation is unique among Canada's private conservation organizations. This gives us a major strategic advantage and helps target our conservation efforts.

All of our scientific priorities can be grouped into four broad areas:

• research to ensure our conservation investments are effective and efficient
• finding answers for species and ecosystems in trouble
• establishing the values that wetlands and their associated habitats hold for society
• nurturing the next generation of conservation scientists

Through science and the work of the very best wetland scientists, we have developed conservation programs that will help save our Wetlands for Tomorrow.

But we need you to help our scientists continue the great work they do. Learn more about how you can help conserve Canada's wetlands for tomorrow...today!
