Through our leading science and environmental research, we have learned a great deal about these important ecosystems. Wetlands provide important habitat and benefits to waterfowl and other birds, animals and all of us. That's why we are committed to wetland conservation.

Despite their many benefits, wetlands face many issues and are lost in Canada at an alarming rate. Did you know that up to 70 per cent of wetlands have disappeared or have been degraded in settled areas of the country, and more are lost every day?

Did you also know that wetlands are more beneficial to Canadians, both environmentally and economically, if they are left intact rather than drained or destroyed? There are many other issues wetlands face and that's why we need your help.
